What is the process to know who is the legal owner of property

I want to know the process of getting information about the plot ,who is the owner. I have bought plot and it is having some problem builder is not doing registery on my name. I have power of attorney made in registrar office it has photo, thumbprint of seller and buyer and papers saying that all payment is made and i m giving the ownership to buyer. But i have a doubt that he has sold that plot to multiple owner that's i want the process and where can i get this information and what can be done on this case
For knowing better title to property you should check the record of right of property e.g. current 7/12 extract, mutation entry record from talathi / village officer of that village, if property is lying in city limit then you have to check property card from city survey.If till you are not sure you can make search of property from sub - registrar office. And can get search of more than 30 years, 14 years.
