Succession Certificate Process and Time Taken

Grandfather had some shares in his account but had no nominee in the demat account. Is succession certificate the best way to proceed if so what is the process and time it takes. Does being a Christian have any impact?

1. You may need legal heir certificate which you can obtain easily from tehsildar office;
2. A succession certificate takes around 608 months;
3. Being a christian does not disqualify you to obtain succession certificate;
