removal of joint name on a plot property

Hi
I purchased a plot in my wifes name using money from her bank account. However on advice when registering added myself as 2nd owner. Now if I want to remove my name do I need to do a relinquishment deed or gift deed?
Also, can I give her a POA to register the relinquishment or gift deed on my behalf?

As you have rightly guessed, you have to execute a relinquishment deed or release deed in favour of your wife. Yes for the execution of the same you can execute a registered GPA in favour of your wife itself.
