How to claim ancestral property of maternal grandfather

1. that my mothers father that is maternal grandfather got ancestral property vide registered partition with his brother in 1968 2. that my maternal grandfather transfered some property to his daughter in law (Y) via some type of deed now my mother wants to claim the property which Y got by filing partition suit ... would it be beneficial to my mother or not

If your maternal grandfather transferred property to the extent of his share, he is /was competent to do so. All persons are entitled to transfer their share of the property (even in ancestral property). There might not be much benefit.
