Default by developer in repayment of money invested for construction
02-Feb-2023 (In Property Law)
Hello, We invested in a small developer in Bangalore who promised to give us developed land 6 years ago. Due to ongoing political issues, he couldn't succeed in getting the land developed. He started missing his promised dates frequently. He even failed to communicate properly and kept us in dark. Only when we started enquiring relentlessly he started giving us false promises and alternate locations, which never materialized. Recently, we asked him to repay our money with interest and he agreed to a certain date in Jan/Feb 2018. However, he has stopped responding again and we have no further hopes of getting the money back voluntarily. Can we bring a criminal lawsuit against him as kept misleading us throughout the time? If the transactions are well documented and straightforward can the courts help us get our money back soon? Usually, what's the turnaround time for a similar case? Thanks
Sir
