on the above mentioned query please note down that the pond is a natural source of water and if the land describes as pond in revenue records and mentioned in the map of the land records, which is in possession of record room collectors premises or revenue inspector/lekhpal.
so as per your query, this is the matter of illegal possession. if you bought a peace of land from someone else, so you are victim and not liable to pay fine. the liability is on the seller.
but if you or your grand parents holds illegal possession on this land, so you are liable for the same.
so in my legal knowledge you will go to the high court for filling the writ petition.

Approach the high court challenging the notice that’s been served upon you by the government. Seek an order as to status quo as an interim relief so that the property/house not demolished and your possession upon this property isn’t disturbed. Seek relief both that of certiorari and mandamus. Thus, approach the competent high court having jurisdiction asap

You will have to check whether the land which was recorded in the revenue record as pond..was recorded in which entry?
2. The law pertaining to pond is that the nature of pond has to be restored.
3. Were you aware that was pond land once you purchased and built the property.
And many other issues are there which can be discussed
