Grand Daughter or Grand Son over maternal Grandmother property

Hi,
I am living in chennai .
My Grandmother owns a property which she inherited from her father
She’s saying we don’t have any rights over that property as my mother (her daughter ) already died
As per Muslim law , it’s stated like that
I want to know whether what they telling is true .I have a brother .If I don’t have right atleast my brother can claim
Please help .
