Salary slip from the company is good enough to claim compensation

Hi,
I lost my brother in a road accident. He was working in private company and earning decent salary. We have the salary slip proof from the company. My brother has not filled the IT returns at all. Is the salary slip from the company is good enough to claim compensation. Please advice, if not what other alternative do we have legally.

In my experience it would be enough and you can also take a certificate from employer that his last drawan salary was such and such and get it marked in evidence.
