Law intern found dead in Bangalore days after filing sexual harassment complaint

A legal intern has been recently found dead in Bangalore, a few days after she had filed a sexual harassment complaint in the Commercial Street police station. The intern was doing an internship with Jayanth M. Puttanshetti and Associates on Infantry Road and was a resident of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The intern was assigned to work with an advocate named Chandra Naik T, who introduced her to another advocate named Chetan Desai, who is a pleader in the High Court of Karnataka. The intern had alleged that the two advocates used to take her to pubs and bars and used to touch her inappropriately and harass her sexually after forcing her to consume alcohol. Later, a sexual harassment complaint was filed by the girl with the Commercial Street police on November 20. However, the girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Saturday, November 24, 201,8 at her PG in Malleswaram. A complaint was also registered by her PG owner seeking a thorough investigation as she had expressed her doubts about the cause of death of the girl. The police have stated that as per the PG owner an advocate had brought the intern to the PG requesting to give her accommodation and had paid Rs. 7,000 in advance for the room.
