Coach accused of molesting minor commits suicide in hotel room

A senior kabbadi coach has hanged himself in a hotel room days after he was suspended for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl at the Sports Authority of India (SAI), North Bengaluru. The Police has found the decomposed body of the coach in the hotel room on Monday, October 15, 2018. The 59-year-old coach, who had been working with the SAI, was suspended after an internal inquiry was conducted. He had checked into the hotel in Davangere on October 14, 2018, however, when he did not come out of the room since the time he checked in, the hotel staff suspected something fishy and reported to the police about the same. The Coach also left a note to his wife, son, and relatives, apologizing for his act of committing suicide and stating that he was helpless. The incident of molestation had taken place in the women dressing room near the Kabbadi arena on October 9, 2018 at the SAI campus. The girl ran out of the room while raising an alarm after the incident leading to the coach being confronted and manhandled by girl's family. The internal committee was then directed by the SAI authorities to investigate the issue and to question the coach before putting him under suspension. Thereafter, a complaint was filed against the coach with the Jnanabharati police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
