July 21, 2018

In a horrifying incident, a woman has lodged a complaint with the Chandigarh Police, alleging that she was raped by 40 men including 2 policemen, while being held captive in a guest house for 4 days straight.

It has been alleged by her that she was held captive in Morni Hills Guest House from 15-18 July on the pretext of a promise to give her a job at the guest house, where at least 10-12 men raped her daily. However, she managed to escape on July 18.

The victim's husband has stated that the house-keeping job was offered for Rs. 11,000 per month by a person known to them. He also said that the woman was drugged for all the days, raped and also threatened that she and her husband would be “ eliminated” if the woman reveals the incident to any person.

The victim first told her husband about the incident and approached Morni Police post but no one took the complaint. After this, she went to the Women Police Station where she was referred to Chandigarh Police. Finally, a complaint was lodged with the Chandigarh Police, after which a gangrape case was registered, post medical-examination. Her statement was recorded by the Chandigarh Police before the Judicial Magistrate.

The Haryana Police has suspended Morni police post -in-charge, a constable and an ASI of Women police station, Panchkula. A Special Investigation Team has been constituted to probe this case. CCTV footage of the crime-scene will also be examined.

The Manager and the owner of Lovely Guest House at Morni have been arrested for raping the 21-year-old woman in captivity. The two have been produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
