Parliamentary committee invites comment to address citizen's data security and privacy concerns
May 21, 2018The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology has invited comments from general public on laws pertaining to data security and privacy of citizens. After the data leak case of Cambridge Analytica and Facebook users the government is aiming at introducing strict regulations to tackle the situation of data breach.
The committee is headed by MP Anurag Singh Thakur and is inviting suggestions from general public, experts/ professionals/ organisations/ associations and stakeholders interested in subject in particular. These suggestions will become a part of the record of the committee and will be strictly confidential. The contents of the same will not be divulged. Such an act will be considered as ‘breach of privilege’.
As per the release anybody who wishes to give oral evidence before the committee, alongside sending the memoranda, will be required to intimate the Lok Sabha Secretariat in advance. Any decision of the committee will be deemed final in this regard.
Those who wish can submit the memoranda to the committee can send two copies of their opinion either in English or in Hindi to Director (C&IT), Lok Sabha Secretariat within two weeks. Those desirous of The memorandum can also be e-mailed at [email protected] or faxed.
