Lalu Yadav found guilty yet again
March 19, 2018The infamous Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad has again been found guilty in the fourth of 5 fodder scam cases. Moreover, Lalu Yadav has already been found guilty by a special CBI court and sentenced to prison terms in 3 other fodder scam cases.
The present case is related to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs. 3.13 crore from the treasury of Dumka, now in Jharkhand, but was in Bihar when Lalu Yadav was the chief minister.
Apart from this, another accused, Jagannath Mishra, who is also a former Bihar Chief Minister, was found not guilty in the case. Mishra has however been convicted in 2 fodder cases by different courts in Jharkhand.
The RJD founder/ leader/ president is currently jailed in the Birsa Munda prison in Ranchi where he is serving a 13.5-year jail term. On 17.03.2018, Lalu was admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences after he fell sick while in jail.
The hearing in this fourth fodder scam case got completed on March 5 but the judgment was repeatedly delayed as Lalu filed multiple pleas.
In addition to Mishra, 29 others, including former IAS officers and animal husbandry officials, were also accused in the case.
