Plea filed against Ruby Hall Clinic for administering wrong treatment to a new born

December 11, 2017

A case has been registered against the Ruby Hall Clinic of Wanowrie, Pune by Juzar, the father of a five months old baby girl against the negligence of the doctors of the hospital. The baby girl was born in June, in a healthy and fit condition, however, three days later when the nurse took the baby for the polio vaccination, things turned out to be a little strange. The family received a call from the reception, informing that the baby is experiencing convulsions. The baby was then immediately admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

The doctors told the parents that the baby would be discharged in the next 24 hours, however, the baby was kept there for the next five days, where several tests were also performed on her. Once the baby was discharged from the hospital, the father also took her for check-ups to well-known pediatricians of the city. These check-ups revealed that the baby was in a perfect health condition and all the tests performed were unnecessary. Juzar also filed two compliant applications to the Pune Police against the negligence of the doctors. However, when the family did not receive any response from the Police, a petition was filed in the court. Advocate Aashutosh Srivastava, representing the Kothawala family told that the baby was taken for the vaccination by the nurse without any of the parents along. The mother insisted to accompany them but the nurse denied the same. The family suspects that something must have happened when the nurse took the baby because before that the baby was in a proper health condition. The CEO of Ruby Hall Clinic Bomi Bhote, asserted that experiencing convulsions is quite common among newborns and as soon as the baby girl recovered, she was discharged and the Kothawala family took her. A committee was also set up to look into the matter, however, no negligence was found on the part of the doctors. The next date of hearing is December 12. The family has demanded that action must be taken against the doctors involved. Sakeensha, the baby is five months old now and is in a proper health condition.
