Supreme Court will hear plea against release of “Padmavati” on November 28
November 24, 2017The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear on November 28 a plea seeking a direction to the markers of Hindi film “Padmavati” not to release outside India on December 1. In the present matter, a bench comprising of Chief Justice Dipak Mishra and Justice A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud that would adjudicate the matter who wherein it is alleged that the makers of “Padmavati” has misrepresented the facts before this court with respect to Central Board of Film Certification’s approval on releasing the songs and the promo.
Advocate M.L. Sharma who filed a fresh plea for urgent hearing. Mr. Sharma has also sought criminal prosecution of the makers of the movie is allowed to be released outside India.
The top court has rejected his plea seeking to delete certain alleged objectionable scenes from the movie. The counsel for the respondent told the court that the film’s promo was released and it has got the requisite approval from the censor board.
The international release for Padmavati is scheduled for December 1. Viacom 18, the makers of the film has asserted that they have deferred the release of the movie from December 1.
