Landlord refused to take rent since from 8 years what can i do now
09-Jul-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I have been a tenant since 23 years having a dupatta shop there .firstly there were 2 landlords then one of them got seperated.the other one refused to take rent from us so i m not able to pay the rent fromm 2006.suddenly he alongwith some other prsn came n clicked photos of shop.i m confused of his intentions.what i can do to secure my position? Should i pay the previous year rent via moneyorder ?please help
The whole scenario of this contention depends upon the Contract of lease which you had with the owner 23 years back. If you do not have any contract, then he has all the rights to get his shop vacated. Not paying the rent for 6 years does not amount to giving you any right for not paying him further or anything related to the ownership of the shop.
