05-Apr-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
Hi, my startup suffered heavily during this lockdown and we do not have cash to pay the landlord. Since premises are locked and all are equipments are also there, can landlord force us to pay the rent or cease our belongings and security. We couldn’t pay the rent and landlord already has raised an invoice for the month of April. We are already in loss and this will crumble us. Please help, I want to keep paying the salaries of employees not shutdown completely.

Dear Sir,

You have the genuine case with you and in many places it has been declared that the landlord cannot force tenants to pay the rent. Also the lockdown situation is beyond the human control. If in your contract there is a force majeure clause then landlord cannot do anything. Also agreement with the landlord is a contract and our contract act have the relevant law pertaining to this kinds of problem.
