Wrong year of passing mentioned in service book what action possible

Unknowingly I mentioned wrong year of passing degree in Govt service book. I got degree in 2009. session 2004-08 was my batch, but due to a back exam my degree was awarded in year 2009. My office doesnt require hard and fast 4 years of degree but due to wrong year of passing mentioned in service book: 1.can this create problem if i apply for promotion exam ? can i be removed or reverted back? 2. can i change that in service book. 3. should i be silent.
Whatever you have mentioned inadvertently in your service book may be condoned by the competent authority. You should immediately inform your department and get the entry rectified. The more there is delay, the more complicated case would be.
