Signed a bond of 6 years, how to leave if i get a good opportunity

09-Oct-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
I requested for permission from my employer regarding a weekend programme, for 3 years. They gave the permission, instead forced me to sign a contract of 6 years, on non judicial Rs 10 stamp paper, and if I leave the company before six years I have to pay the salary of unserved period. I want to know whether the contract is legal and how can I leave if I get a good opportunity.

As I can presume you were made to sign on the contract instrument on dotted lines. It is the settled position of the Law that no contract should be one sided. If expenditure for pursuing the course is being borne by your employer and there is scheme for financial benefit or career advancement Upon successful completion of the programme, the employer can impose certain conditions to utilise your upgraded skills and knowledge. If no such benefit is extended to you, no restriction to move out from the existing employment can be imposed on you.Anyway, for further instructions contact lawRato .
