Resigned from company how can I get back my original documents

I have join company on 1st January 2015 as Asp.Net Project Trainee. During the period of Project Trainee with the company, I have submitted to their office original copies of documents. I would like to request for the return of the said documents as soon as possible because due to my illness in March 2015 you allowed me to do project from home and after that I did inform you that I am not able to continue project due to illness and you are also agree with me and give me confirmation about return of documents within 2 to 3 month but up-till now you didn’t return my original documents.
First of all no company can take or keep your original certificates with them or id proof. If they fail to return your documents then you send a legal notice thereby requesting them to return the document. If they fail to return then you can lodge a police complaint and file suit damages and seeking possession of your documents.
