Query Related to maternity leave and job confirmation

Hi! I am working in a matrimony company since 11march19 and planning to go on maternity leave after 14th oct19. As per company confirmation policy, my confirmation should be done till 10th sep19 but my manager and hr are saying as you are going on maternity leave, we can't do your job confirmation and we will do it after you return from maternity leave. I am taking ML after 7months of my joining. it doesn't make sense to stop my confirmation due to ML. I request you to please suggest.

serve the legal notice to the company stating the reasons for the maternity leave grant and before that you need to go through the appointment letter which states that whether you are on probation period or not. if not you have a good case.
