Organisation forcing workers to stay in premises after work

sir I work in a private factory as a Fireman on a contractual basis. where I work their we pressurized to stay in factory hostel after our duty .I want to know is this possible that any rule force us to stay in there after our duty hour.we get pay only our duty hour.rest we get nothing.
No it's illegal no one can force anyone once the duty hour is over and it can only at will of the employee either contractual or regular and for that the employer have to pay for the overtime work done by the employee.
