My previous employer is not giving my documents back.

my previous employer is not willing to provide me my police verification document. In this case what legal action can I take
The Police Department also has the verification document which you wish to retrieve from your previous employer. Write to the police department requesting for the verification document, citing the reason why you need it (e.g. It is a required document for a new job application), informing that your previous employer is not willing to return you the document.
Send a copy of the letter to your previous employer.
