Law which mandates woman employee safety by the company?
21-Dec-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
My wife is an iim grad working for a major telecom company. Despite getting a decent compensation, she is required to travel to multiple locations within Delhi with no transport arrangements provided by the company. Her manager is indifferent towards her security or timings. She is thinking of leaving her job. Is there a law that mandates organisation to take care of the security of women employees during work mandated travel.
The arrangement for transport is part of service conditions applicable to an employee.
If your wife has some safety and security issues she may bring them to the notice of the Management and request for taking care of them by altering the places to be visited or timings of such visit.
One can not say in general that because of his/gender special privileges are required to be provided specially in higher management jobs.
There is no such specific law applicable to employers in general(except Factory Act or similar legislations applicable to factory workers or workmen category of employees.)
