Issues regarding notice period unethical practices

The offer letter contains the term 'that 3 months notice period needs to be served or 3 months pay in lieu by both employer and employee.after 6 months you will be confirmed as permanent.' I have put my resignation but now they are asking for 3 months for 3 months salary or 3 months working without pay.What is to be done
This is my response to you:
1. Did you sign on the offer letter;
2. If you have accepted the same then you are bound by it;
3. Are you offered work at another place?
4. You can approach a local lawyer, discuss the details and then take steps.
