Yes you can apply for a maternity leave just like the regular employees in your office can. The quantum of a maternity leave that you will get depends on the time period allowed by the statutory rules or regulations of your department. But there is not a shred of doubt about the fact that you are 1. entitled to a maternity leave just like the regular employees in your department .
2. You are entitled to the same period of leave as the regular employees are entitled.

If your request for maternity relief is denied by the department/administration. Your remedy lies in approaching the Central Administrative Tribunal, which has the power to grant you interim relief.
