Institution asking employee to pay 3 months salary

Institution asking a employee 3 months salary when he is unable to work and need relieving for some reason.
Generally Employer demands 1 or 3 months salary in lieu of notice period. But we have to check the appointment letter. You can send email / letter to the Employer requesting to waive such payment. The discretionary lies with the Employer.
