08-Jun-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
This is regarding exploitation of female nursing staffs in a hospital. The hospital management asks to quit the job if I cannot work as per their terms. As a nursing staff (BSc Nursing) almost all staffs gets merely Rs 6,000/- salary and have to perform 14 night shifts (starts from 8 Pm to 8 am) in a month. Is it legal such a long woring hours mere wages? Where to complaint this and what is the remedy?

The answer depends on the State where nursing staff are employed. If that particular State has notified minimum wages, then a complaint lies with the labour authorities concerned. However, the real solution lies in collective action.

It is a very meger amount being paid especially to a nurse who is having a Bsc nursing degree and working hours is also more and there are so much legal remedies are available and is quite advisable to move the court but not alone join with other colleagues.
