Extra working hours without giving remuneration is it legal or not

My husband is working as senior software engineer in a multi national company registered as a private ltd co in Bangalore, right now he is working on a project, where he has to go on Sunday and Saturday also ( normally Saturday and Sunday is a holiday).but the company is not giving any remuneration or any compensation leave for the same.Again more than money it is a mental pressure.One more point is he is having work from home option but that also they don't allow.please advise.
Well firstly, he should contact the concerned person in the office for redressal of his grievances. If his problems are not properly addressed then he can file the matter before appropriate Mediation centre for settlement of dispute and for seeking direction from the Mediation Centre. In most of the companies, the employees are paid for overtime. He should make this demand to the company and otherwise he can deny to work overtime if he is denied payment for overtime.
