Employer denying to grant maternity leave

hi i am working in a corporate school.i conceived and doctor suggested me 2months bed rest.but my principal is not giving leave.and they took 3 blank cheques from all employees. they said we will deposit the cheques in bank.in one website i saw maternity act.what i should do now.please help me
As a first step you put forth your grievance in writing to your higher authority i.e. head of you SCHOOL where you work. Thereafter depending on their reply you better file a complaint to the Human Rights Commission where you stay.
