Completed 5.5 years service just want to know gratuity eligibility

I have completed 5.5 years service in school. just i want to know i am eligible for gratuity or not?. I asked school management they are saying that i am not eligible, please tell me i am eligible or not to get gratuity>
An employee who has put in his service for a period of 240 days in fifth year will be deemed to have continued in the service for 1 year.
