Company is closing and asking us to work in notice period

28-May-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
My company said they are closing operation on 21st June 2018, they informed us this on the 21st may. They said notice period starts from 21st may nothing was given in writing. They also said we have to compulsory work till 21st June. I would like to know can an employer compulsorily make us work when he is shutting the company down and not allowing us to relieve before the closure date. not allowing us to search for a job and making us work.
