Can a company increase the notice period

Hi, I have recently resigned from my company and they have a notice period of 3 months. But i want to serve only 45 days period and I am willing to buyout the remaining notice period. However the HR has denied me saying that there is no biyout option. Also want to inform that when i joined this company they had only 1 month notice and the 3 months notice policy came into action later. So in my joining letter there is a notice period mentioned of 1 month. So please advise me if i can lodge a complaint against the company. As they are forcing me to serve 3 months notice.
Ya sure u can lodge a complaint against the company .At time of joining the if notice period was only one month then company cannot force u for 3 months .Best way for you lodge a complaint against the company for harassment .
