SECTION 66 IPC - Indian Penal Code - Description of imprisonment for non-payment of fine

As per new Indian Criminal law, IPC Section 66 has been replaced with BNS Section 8 with effect from July 1, 2024.
(The IPC section is included as a sub-section in BNS, sans heading. “or in default of community service” is added..)

In simple words, the court can impose any type of imprisonment that the offender could have received for the offense, in case of default in paying the fine.
