As per section 5 of Hindu Marriage Act, a marriage cannot take place between two persons who are sapindas of each other or within prohibited degree of relationship. Generally speaking, a sapinda is someone who falls within five generations from father's side and three generations from mother's side. In your case your cousin falls within prohibited degree of relationship.
