What can I do if my American husband has abandoned me in India?
18-Dec-2023 (In Family Law)
I got married to my husband in June, 2016 in India. I am an Indian citizen & he is a white male, American. I didn't want to move to the US so I stayed here till his business was more stable & he could move here which he was willing to do. In between he has visited me many a times. He visited me last month & he and I got into a huge argument but later on everything was good. Also, this was the first time we had had an argument like that. When he went back to the US, he texted me that he doesn't feel anything for me & then blocked me from every social media platform. He doesn't reply to my texts either. Now I want to go there & talk to him but he won't apply for my visa now. I don't want a divorce to begin with. I want to see him & try to reconcile but how can I go there now? I am absolutely clueless & very troubled. Can anyone please tell me my options?
Hello Querist
1. If you both are Hindu then certainly the remedies lie under Hindu Marriage Act, where you can file case for restitution of conjugal rights.
2. Moreover you can also file case under domestice violence act and in that case notice will be issued to your husband and thereafter the court send the parties for reconciliation.
