Procedure to get married to a girl being in family relations
18-Dec-2023 (In Family Law)
Sir, I and a girl fall in love and both wants to marry but the problem is that she is my mother's cousin sister's daughter, my maternal grandfather and her maternal grandfather are real brother. So please tell me sir can we marry legally?
If you are a Hindu then according to section-5 of Hindu Marriage Act,1955 you can not marry a girl who is your "Sapinda". The relationship mentioned by you does come within Sapinda relationship, so both of you can not marry. If you are Muslim or Christian then both of you can Marry because the relationship mentioned by you doesn't come within the absolute bar of marriage by reason of consanguinity (in Muslims) and also in Christian law marriage between both of you is not prohibited.
