Can I claim compensation in DV act from elder brother how can I do it

Can a adult sister file domestic violence case against adult brother in shared household? And compensate it with money. I wanted to leave my house many times but I was forefully confined in my house. I did took it police but police says its ok coz its normal for girls in india to get hit by parents and brothers. I was depressed and very much suicidal. Now I want to leave my house but I want to make them pay for my situation. Can this happen? I dont want to leave the house without getting money from them because this will cause them great pleasure if I walk away bruises with all over my face. What should I do?

Brothers are not bound to maintain their sisters.if some one hit you and create cruelty you can file application to police.you had not described that whether its a ancestral property or self acquired property
