Can a step mothers name registered in cbse board

My 1 st passed away in 2016, remarried in 2017, I have a son studying in class 10. My son's school authority called me for a signature in cbse registration form where student and parent signature is required. In the mother column my first wife name appears. So i left the column blank. As the board exam is nearby. My wife objecting to it. Can i change the mothers name and if yes how much time will take.
