i have passed my 10th cbse in 2017
i have to change my name as my surname is not written in the certificate
what are the steps i should follow?
is consultng a lawyer necessary , if so how much it costs for a lawyer?
if not necessary how can i do it on my own?

you can change your name at any age. you have to state the reasons which should be a bonafide. If it ressonble, you have to make a petition before the concerned executive magistrate of your place. later a Revenue Inspector will visit your place and makes enquiry into the mater and prepares a Pamchnaamaa and later district magistrate reffers the matter to printing & stationery department of the state for publish in the gazette.
