Is criminal record in another country ground for denial of govt jobs

01-Sep-2023 (In Documentation Law)
I was convicted for drink driving in USA and paid fine and served imprisionment for 30 days. Now I am living in Hyderabad and would like to apply for a government or public sector jobs. Will I get any problem in background verification process or will I be denied a government job due to criminal record in another country ?

the law is not clear on this aspect, but to clear your doubt you can file a RTI asking the same from the concerned department or the government. but recently the Supreme Court has ruled that non-disclosure of petty offences of the past, like shouting slogans should not ordinarily be a ground to deny a job.
However, the bench said that as a general rule, information given to the employer by the candidate must be true and there should be no suppression or false mention of required information.
