Is change of name Gazzette of Maharashtra valid for Central Government

In 2015, I changed my name for the spelling mistakes. At that time I didn't make affidavit or notary. I changed name through Gazzette of govt of Maharashtra. I had published advertisement in newspapers.
Now I am preparing for UPSC . I want to know whether I have to publish name in Gazzette of Govt of India or Gazzette of Maharashtra Govt will be enough.
Should I go for notary?
