Yes, you are entitled to get the caste recognition of your mother. However you have to satisfy the revenue authority about your such entitlement on the ground that you were brought up by your mother for all the years in the community to which your mother belonged. Once the revenue authority issues the caste certificate the validity of the same cannot be challenged by any other authority.

In India, caste certificates are typically issued based on the caste of the father, as it is a common practice to determine an individual's caste through paternal lineage. However, there are certain scenarios where you may be able to obtain a caste certificate based on your mother's caste. Here's what you need to know:
  1. Inter-Caste Marriage: If your parents have had an inter-caste marriage (where your mother belongs to a different caste than your father), you may have the option to choose either parent's caste for your caste certificate.
  2. Guidelines Vary by State: The issuance of caste certificates is a state-specific matter, and guidelines can vary from one state to another. Some states allow individuals to choose their caste based on either parent's caste, while others may have more specific rules.
  3. Documents Required: To obtain a caste certificate based on your mother's caste, you may need to provide documents such as your parents' marriage certificate, proof of your mother's caste, and any other documents required by your state authorities.
  4. Visit Local Authorities: Contact your local revenue or district administration office or the office responsible for issuing caste certificates in your state. They can provide you with information on the specific requirements and procedures in your area.
  5. Legal Consultation: If you encounter any difficulties or have questions regarding the process, it is advisable to consult with a legal professional who specializes in documentation matters. They can guide you through the process and ensure that you meet all the necessary requirements.
  6. Be Prepared for Verification: Be prepared for the possibility that authorities may conduct verification to confirm your mother's caste before issuing the certificate.
In summary, while caste certificates in India are traditionally based on the father's caste, individuals from inter-caste marriages may have the option to choose their caste based on either parent's caste, depending on the rules and procedures in their respective state. It's essential to research and follow the guidelines specific to your state and consult with local authorities for accurate and up-to-date information on obtaining a caste certificate based on your mother's caste.
