Since both parties involved herein are Hindus, their marriage is governed by the Hindu Marriage Act 1955. Section 13 of the Act lays down the grounds on which either the husband or the wife can seek divorce. These grounds include adultery, desertion and cruelty. The timeline for the divorce may vary depending on the facts and circumstances of the case.

If you are applying for the divorce, you need to show the court that there exists grounds for obtaining divorce and it has to met with all the requirement of law. There is no specific period within which the divorce case has to be disposed. It would depend on the particular case and takes more than 9 months.
