To be eligible for a government lawyer, you must meet the criteria established by the governmentunder Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, usually based on your income and financial situation.

  2. Approach the Legal Services Authority: In India, legal aid services are provided by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) at the national level and State Legal Services Authorities (SLSA) at the state level and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at the district level and plays a crucial role in delivering legal services to individuals in need. Contact your local DLSA or visit their office to seek assistance.

  3. Submit an application: At the DLSA office, you will need to fill out an application form requesting legal aid for your divorce case. 4. Provide supporting documents: Along with the application form, you will be required to submit supporting documents such as income certificates, proof of assets and liabilities, evidence of marriage, and any other relevant documents related to your divorce case.

  5. Verification and assessment: The DLSA will review your application and supporting documents to verify your eligibility for legal aid. They may conduct an assessment to evaluate your financial situation and determine whether you qualify for a government lawyer.

  6. Allocation of a government lawyer: If your application is approved, the DLSA will assign a government lawyer to represent you in your divorce case. The lawyer will be responsible for handling your legal proceedings and providing necessary legal advice.
