Boyfriend (now ex) is asking for money back that he spent on me

I was in a relationship for 5 years with a guy and we got our roka done this March. However due to certain issues I called it off and want to break up with him. I am also undergoing therapy, he has asked me to return the money he spent on me so far. It was never agreed upon as a loan and I have been living on my own money, it is all the money that he willingly spent on me. He has also threatened me to sue me legally in the past, can he really sue me?
hi was there any agreement made between you for repaying the amount and if there is no such provision then he cannot claim the amount as there is no right and you could take defense that he had spent amount on his will
