Petty case filed due to unknowingly forwarding fake news

On may 9 police came to my house without intimation and asked my father to come to the police station for an enquiry and after asking repeatedly they didnt Inform us what enquiry is about.At the station police informed that my father forwarded a message which turned out be a fake news a d seized my father's phone along with others who forwarded the message, phones returned after 2 days,today without any notice police informed petty cases has be filed what legal steps should my father take now?
hi first need to see the contents of the case or FIR registered against your father and after going through the contents of the complaint then you could proceed with the mext course of action to file quash petition to quash the case against him
