cctv cameras in common stairway is legal or not?

I lives in builders flats (4th floor) my neighbour who is female lives in my front side installed cctv cameras in common stairway which records my movements. She use this cameras as her weapon first she abuse me and comes to assualt me & when I do my defence then she turns on the cameras and register police complaints. This cameras is legal or not?
You can always file a complaint in writing and address it to the police station according to your jurisdiction regarding this harassment. And it's legal to install a camera but it should not infringe the privacy of the other person. There is the right to privacy guaranteed under the law for all citizens.
