Once an FIR (First Information Report) is filed, it is generally uploaded to the online portal of the police department. The FIR remains on the online portal until the matter is disposed of by the court.

If the matter has been disposed of and the person against whom the FIR was filed has been acquitted or the charges have been dropped, then they may be able to request the removal of the FIR from the online portal. The process for getting an FIR deleted from an online portal may vary depending on the state and local laws.

In some states, an application can be submitted to the Superintendent of Police (SP) or the Director General of Police (DGP) with a copy of the court order. The SP or DGP may then order the concerned police station to remove the FIR from the online portal.

In other states, there may be a provision for filing a petition in the High Court to get the FIR removed from the online portal.

If you want to get an FIR deleted from an online portal after the matter has been disposed of, you may follow these general steps:
  1. Consult an Attorney: It's advisable to consult with an attorney experienced in criminal law. They can provide you with specific guidance tailored to your case and jurisdiction.
  2. Understand the Grounds: FIRs are not typically removed from online portals after disposal unless there are compelling grounds. Your attorney will assess if there are valid reasons to seek removal.
  3. Legal Petition: In some cases, you can file a legal petition in court requesting the removal of the FIR from online platforms. Your attorney will guide you through the process, including filing the necessary documents.
  4. Court Order: If the court finds merit in your case and grants an order for removal, you can submit this order to the concerned authorities responsible for maintaining the online FIR portal.
  5. Follow Legal Procedures: Ensure that you follow all legal procedures diligently, as this may vary based on your jurisdiction. Your attorney will assist you in adhering to the relevant laws and regulations.
  6. Verify Removal: After obtaining a court order, verify that the FIR has been removed from the online portal. It may take some time for the authorities to update their records.
Remember that the process of removing an FIR from an online portal can be complex and may depend on the specific circumstances of your case. It's essential to seek legal counsel to navigate this process effectively. Additionally, FIRs are generally maintained as part of the official records, even if they are removed from public online portals. Your attorney can provide you with more details regarding the feasibility of such removal in your particular situation.

The police can file a B report (closure report) based on your compromise. If you object, the court will call the defacto complaint to give his objections to the closure of the FIR.
