Patient gets abusive, refuses to make payments for services rendered

08-Nov-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I undertook to treat a patient in my Clinic after explaining entire protocol and expenses involved, took consent and did treatment for a patient. In the last visit this man did not clear his dues and disappeared. Now after one year he came back with some unreasonable demands and after my polite explanation, he became extremely agitated and aggressive and started abusing me with profanities. I have lodged a complaint with the police but I need some advise regarding my legal stand and how to bring the offender to justice.

You've done the right thing by informing the police
In my view a case under S 420 S 415 S 405 will be registered and a police investigation followed by court summons on appropriate date will be sent to the other party.Your limitation for recovery of dues is 3 years from date of last billing therefore it within the time period. Try following up on investigation and if still unsatisfied you can contact your local superintendent or move the court for status report. Please keep taking legal advice at every step.
